Radio and Television are platforms to disseminate information, entertains, inspires, educates and energizes the people of every nation and therefore the personalities behind the console and in front of the cameras contribution to national development cannot be ignored.
The Radio and Television Personalities having been ignored in terms of recognition over the years, Prince Mackay, CEO and Founder of Big Events Ghana Ltd., acknowledging the role radio and television personalities have played over the years in Ghana, instituted the prestigious RTP Awards scheme to reward and honour excellence and hard work in the in the radio and television industry in Ghana.
January 2011 saw the birth and launch of 1st edition of the RTP Awards at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra. The launch attracted over 1,000 personalities within the radio and television industry, celebrities and the general public. In June 2011 at the Banquet Hall, State House, the very 1st edition of the radio and television personality awards (RTP Awards) was held and it honoured 28 radio and television personalities across Ghana, with over 3,000 people attending. The event was hosted by Ama K Abebrese and Felix Vander Pullin.
After the successful organization of the 1st edition, the RTP Awards and many brands in Ghana, supported the annual event especially key industry stakeholders.
Big Events Ghana CEO Prince Mackay, launched the 2nd edition of the awards at the Alisa Hotel in Accra in January 2012. Boosted by the huge success of the launch, Big Events Ghana pulled up a wonderful event on the 13th October, 2012 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre, with the event attracting over 5,000 people in attendance.
